My Last Day At Morgan Harris

A year has passed since I started working for Morgan Harris as a placement student. Although Witney & Oxford (where I have worked & lived for the past year) hasn’t quite got the hustle and bustle of a busy University City life, I have quite enjoyed my time here in Oxfordshire.

My time at Morgan Harris as an accounts assistant has surely shown me the real side of accounting and the reality of accounting in practice. I’ve learnt a great deal about accounting, from producing annual accounts, completing VAT returns and processing self-assessment tax returns. Though my initial thoughts of accounting were different, presumably due to practice being different to what they teach you at university, I have learned various aspects of accounting and look forward to applying the skills and experiences gained at Morgan Harris in my final year at Aston University.

I’ve been an integral part of the Morgan Harris team, from which I’ve gained invaluable business experience, to which I only have the whole Morgan Harris organisation to thank for their support and input in my development.

Alan taught me the importance of attention to detail, and he sure made me realise this when he made me find a 1p difference whilst reconciling a bank account! This evidently reflects the pride Morgan Harris takes in its work!

I will leave Morgan Harris today, and return back to my home (Wolverhampton), knowing I’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills which will always be beneficial to me when pursuing a career in accounting or finance.

I shall be forever grateful for everyone at Morgan Harris, especially Alan Morgan for giving me the opportunity to gain and experience the reality of the accounting world.

Gurpreet Grewal.
